Medicaid Waiver Program

Green River Consumer Directed Options

The Medicaid waiver program provides services for those eligible for the Home and Community Based Waiver, Michelle P Waiver, and Supports for Community Living Waiver.  Potential participants are required to meet eligibility criteria established in Kentucky Administrative Regulations (KAR) for Medicaid waiver services.  This program allows the individual to choose who provides their non medical waiver services.  This program is based on person centered principles and allows participants choice and flexibility in the delivery of services they receive by placing the waiver participant in charge of directing services.

The Home and Community Based Waiver can provide attendant care, homemaking, personal care, unskilled respite, goods and services, and support brokerage.  The Michelle P Waiver can provide unskilled respite, homemaker, personal care, attendant care, supported employment, community living support, goods and services, case management and support brokerage.  The Supports for Community Living Waiver can provide personal assistance, community access, community guide, and respite.  Eligibility for specific services is determined by the Department for Medicaid Services and is based on waiver criteria.  Other services may be available based on traditional providers in your area.

Green River Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living (GRAAAIL) has been providing waiver services since 2006 for the Home and Community Based and Supports for Community Living Waiver.  In 2008 GRAAAIL began providing for the Michelle P waiver.  In addition to participant directed services, GRAAAIL is able to provide traditional case management services to individuals who qualify through the Michelle P and Supports for Community Living Waiver.
